with my xbox needing to be repaired, and me not having the money to do so, ive been playing a lot of SNES lately. i just played through secret of mana (my favorite game when i was younger) and felt all warm and fuzzy inside while doing so. so i figured i would start a topic for those games that just make you feel nostalgic
It's no secret that River City Ransom is one of my favorite games, but I'm going to throw in Super Dodge Ball, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy 3, Mega Man 2, 3 and X (the best in the series), any of the Zeldas, Mutant League Football, Road Rash, Mario Kart, Worms, Street Fighter 2, Bomberman, and the list goes on. Most of these are games I used to play with friends and family, and I love getting them back out now and again.
Wow, you both said it. Secret of Mana is an amazing game. I feel bad for anyone who hasn't played it. Zelda(s) almost always make me feel that way. Super Mario Brothers 3 and Super Mario World both make me nostalgic. TMNT The Arcade Game, Metroid, Contra, Golden Axe...
From the DOS days, any of the Sierra adventure games... King's Quest, Space Quest, Quest for Glory... other notable titles include: Bard's Tale, King's Bounty, One Must Fall 2097, Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Commander Keen, Duke Nukem, Legend of Kyrandia, Master of Orion, Battle Chess, Star Control II, Wing Commander 2, Siege, Dune 2
Traded in Sensible Soccer for a copy of Kick Off, that was a sad day. I was very happy when SWOS came out and I could be rid of Kick Off forever, Dino Dini has nothing on Hare and the boys at Sensible Software. Also I had a friend that never told me the combinations for moves in Street Fighter. We grew apart years ago, but I recently met him at a SF tournament and won. So I guess I'm awesome!
Oh and Resident Evil 1-3. I have an old PS at my parent's place and a while back when I was in town I played through the entire trilogy over the course of a weekend. Blissful.
I must say my favorite retro games has to be the X-wing games.(Tie Fighter also ) I also can't get enough of Metroid and Super Metroid. I actually played the hell out of Super Metroid when it came out on virtual console for the WII.
I read your post and was like, "Yes! I love all of these games, and they bring back awesome memories." Then I saw who the post was from, and smiled. =D
I've been playing through the remade Monkey Island on XBL, and I must say I had forgotten how much fun those adventure games were (though equally frustrating.
